Web Server Performance Tuning

Optimise Nginx, Apache, proxies, TLS, connections, compression, caching, static assets, and upstreams for traffic patterns.

The web server sits in every request path and can become a bottleneck before application code runs. We measure connection handling, TLS, proxies, caching, and upstream behaviour to improve efficiency.

When this service is needed

Tuning methodology

  1. Baseline: measure latency, throughput, errors, saturation, and resources.
  2. Hypothesis: connect symptoms to evidence and candidate bottlenecks.
  3. Controlled change: introduce one group of changes with a rollback path.
  4. Retest: repeat the same scenario and compare results.
  5. Observe: monitor stability and regression risk after change.
